Be Confident at Your Holiday Party with These Acne Treatments

Who doesn’t want to look amazing for the holidays? You’ve probably already figured out what you’re going to wear and how your hair will look, but have you thought about how you’ll tackle acne? Almost everyone gets a bit insecure when a breakout happens. Luckily, these four acne treatments can clear you up and give you your confidence just in time for the holidays.

Best Acne Treatment Options

1. Chemical Peel

If your holiday party is in a week or two, a chemical peel may be the perfect treatment to clear you up just before the big gathering. When you get a chemical peel, an aesthetician will first clean your face with a simple cleansing solution then apply a chemical solution. This chemical solution is a mixture of various acids that, when applied to the face, will create micro injuries. These injuries help to promote collagen, a protein found in our bodies that helps create a smoother, more youthful appearance. Over the next few days, the skin will peel away, leaving behind new, collagen-rich skin with less acne, dark marks, and wrinkles.

2. Light Therapy

Light therapy has been used to treat acne for quite some time now and has proven to be extremely effective. Light at a specific wavelength has the ability to destroy the bacteria that causes acne. With this treatment, blue light will be exposed to your face for a predetermined period of time, delivering bacteria-zapping light directly into the skin. With several treatments, you may find that your acne is completely gone. Please keep in mind that this method is more suited for individuals with mild acne. Those with severe acne should talk to their dermatologist about other options.

3. Acne Facial

Who doesn’t love a nice facial? But did you know that there are facials specifically for acne? Acne facials rid the face of oil and dirt build up. Acne facials typically use antioxidants and other acne-fighting solutions to rid the face of mild acne and blemishes like blackheads and whiteheads. Acne facials are a great way to clean the skin, but for deeper and bigger pimples, an acne facial may irritate the skin further, so this option is best for individuals with mild acne. Your dermatologist can recommend what’s best for more severe acne.

4. Photopneumatic Therapy

Photopneumatic therapy essentially tag teams with a vacuum to get rid of acne. WIth this treatment, a dermatologist uses an IPL or Intense Pulsed Light laser to destroy the bad cells, bacteria and inflammation causing the acne. A small hand-held vacuum is then passed over the treated area to suck away the gunk from the open zits pores. Luckily, this treatment option is perfect for those with severe acne.
