Which Is Better: Botox or Dermal Fillers?

Face wrinkles are one of the earliest indicators of aging, and they are impossible to avoid as we get older. Loss of facial tone is another significant contributor to why people appear older. The look of wrinkles can cause you to become overly self-conscious, lowering your esteem. Fortunately, you shouldn’t be too concerned. It is now easier to make your skin look and feel younger again thanks to

advancements in skincare treatment such as injections, which have become more popular over recent years. Botox and dermal fillers are currently at the top of the list. The question is, how does each one work, and which is most effective?

Botox Injections

Botulin toxin injections like Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved to improve attractiveness by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles. They can even be administered in small doses to treat various medical issues and minimize wrinkles. Migraines, eye problems, alopecia, an overactive bladder, and hyperhidrosis are all candidates.

How Soon Do You See Results?

While many television shows and movies will have you believe that you can see the effects of Botox immediately, this is not the case. Most patients may begin to see superficial wrinkle reduction in as soon as three to four days. But full results aren’t expected to appear for about two weeks. If you are getting the injection for a special occasion, you should have the injections at least 14 days ahead of time to reduce irritation and give time for it to take full effect.

How Long Does an Injection Last?

The injection of Botox degrades over time, becoming less efficient at relaxing the muscles. After your initial treatment, the injection “wears off” after a few months, but subsequent treatment will take longer to break down. After your second or third treatment, you may notice that it takes four to six months to wear off.

How Much Does Treatment Cost?

Botox is sold in units, and each unit costs $15 to $25. An average dosage of 30-40 units is generally employed in a normal Botox procedure.

What About Side Effects?

Some of the side effects you may experience when you use Botox include:

  • Dry eye
  • Mild pain, swelling or bruising around the injection site
  • Headache
  • Temporary paralysis in nearby muscles

Dermal Fillers

The skeletal structure and the fatty compartments of our faces gradually lose the facial volume and elasticity associated with youth. As depressing as that may sound, dermal fillers allow your doctor to treat this volume loss directly with a substance that can rebuild the structure of your face and restore it to the volume and bounciness you desire.

Also an FDA-approved wrinkle-reducing injection, dermal fillers like Juvederm are often mistaken for Botox injections. Dermal fillers are injectable implants that help smooth skin and wrinkles while Botox “freezes” muscles to reduce wrinkles. Dermal Injections are made beneath your skin with a needle.

How Soon Do you See Results?

Dermal filler effects are instantaneous, so you can see visible results right away. However, the filler usually takes up to four weeks to properly integrate into the tissue, giving you the full results you’re hoping for.

How Long Does Treatment Last?

The lifespan of a dermal filler is determined by various factors, including the dermal filler type that is used, the area where it is injected, and the patient’s metabolism. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common fillers, and they can last up to one year.

How Much Does Treatment Cost?

Dermal filler procedures can cost anywhere from $600 to more than $2,000 per treatment. This is dependent on the type and amount of filler utilized and the various areas of injections.

What About Side Effects?

Side effects of dermal fillers may include:

  • Facial weakness
  • Brow drooping
  • Eyelid drooping
  • Localized pain
  • Swelling, reddening, and bruising at the injection site
  • Dry eyes
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
  • Skin rashes

Botox and fillers both offer amazing results, so choosing the one for you really depends on your budget and possible health risks.
